SC trip 2010

Here are a bunch of pictures from our recent (and usually annual) trip to South Carolina to visit my parents. (Thanks Mom and Dad for everything!) Christian invited his pal Cody this year to come along. We all had a blast!!

on our way.. the beginning of a 16 hour drive to South Carolina.. they were pretty excited!

My Dad. You may think I'm a cruel daughter, but look! He's not shy!! :)

our first day on the beach

:)

While in Myrtle Beach you must go mini golfing...

Broadway at the beach. Nice top Christian!!

at the nascar park

more mini golf.. at the nascar park. The kids are posing by "their" sign. :)

Our arrival at Patriot's Point (in Charleston, SC) , a museum consisting of a naval aircraft carrier, Vietnam camp and submarine that we took the boys to while on our vacation in SC.

A replica of a US camp during the war in Vietnam.

getting ready to go aboard the USS Yorktown, a naval carrier that served in WWII

Captain Cody!

I caught Christian when he wasn't looking.. he's my handsome boy

One of the many steep ladders we climbed on the USS Yorktown. I'm getting braver with age! :)

someone knew what all of those gadgets were used for.. crazy!

goofing off in one of the carrier's kitchens...

Cody and Christian before going into the submarine

Christian in the submarine at Patriot's Point.

some kids were putting off fireworks on the beach and this was our view from the sixteenth floor.

on the way home..:)

one of the many signs leading up to "South of the Border", a real cheesy place to visit (but a must see of course!) on the border of NC and SC. Everyone gets excited on the way down when they start seeing the Pedro signs! (these were taken on the way home though, so we were all sad!)

We drove through DC on the way home.. oh if there was only time to stop in!! Someday!

teacher/parent game

Last night Eric played in a basketball game at our elementary school on the "parent's team". They played against the teachers. It was pretty fun to watch! They really did win, although at the end the scores ended up all mixed up.. gee.. I wonder how that happened?! ;)

Now, I've never been one to yell at the ref.. but THIS guy seemed to be calling unfairly. What's up with that?! :) (haha Tim!!)

there goes Eric "three point" Parenti!! (everyone got these really funny names and were introduced that way.. !) Eric did however make a three pointer during the game! :) Don't you just love those too-small yellow pinnies?!! haha!

Our school mascot dancing around

more trampoline fun...Sarah is under that hair somewhere!!

Easter 2010

Christian having fun.

coloring eggs! (it felt strange to be coloring eggs when it was 86 degrees outside!)

Sarah after church with her chocolate egg. :)

card and flower my pal Jenny B. sent to us.. this flower was folded up and taped inside the card with instructions to wait until Easter, then take the flower out and put it in a shallow bowl of water. The flower opened up as if it was blooming once it hit the water.. so neat!!! :)

He is risen! Thanks Jenny and fam.. this was very special.

spring

Sarah had "dress as your favorite book character" at school yesterday. She decided to be Laura Ingalls Wilder. She was going to be Amy March from "little women", but decided that the clothes pin on her nose would probably be a bit uncomfortable! We took a ton of pictures of her in the poke bonnet/printed dress ensemble, then we headed over to school for literacy night. We are going to post pictures of that on Sarah's blog www.asilearnasigrow.blogspot.com.

Daddy hitting baseballs to Christian

Good catch!
Our pond is teaming with spring peepers. We snuck up on them and recorded their sound.. you can see the water rippling and if you look close you can see their little heads sticking out. We had to be real quiet because if they hear you coming they stop their peeping and duck under the water! Spring is really here!
