Thanksgiving trip to NY '09

Here are some pictures of our annual Thanksgiving trip to NY! For some reason I cannot type anything under the pictures.. not sure what is going on! We went to the barn in Cape Vincent and spent a lot of time with "Sarah's NY horse", jake. She also got to ride the Knapp sister's other horses, Copper (with pink boots on..) and Charlie Brown. (thanks to Grandma too for the lesson on Jake!) There is a cute pic of Melinda texting on a yawning Charlie Brown.. too cute! Thank you girls for all of your assistance with Sarah, she looks forward to seeing you when we visit. Not to mention I love watching you ride... you girls are awesome! We had ourselves a regular pony party!! :)

Eric's mom just sent us this one.. her horse Romi on the left (who is filling out quite nicely might I add!!!) meets his half sister. The email was titled "am I looking in a mirror??"

more of Nana and Papa's visit

We did a fun craft over the weekend when Nana and Papa came over that was recommended to us by a co-worker (and dear lady!) of mine. You gather leaves and things and press them in a book over night, then you arrange them on wax paper. After that you take a carrot shredder (one that you don't want to use on carrots anymore!) and shred some crayons over top.

next, cover the leaves and crayons with another sheet of wax paper then iron until all of the crayon shavings have melted. Note the night gown.. this was a different day as Sarah made a bunch of them!! As soon as she woke up and ate breakfast she was asking to make more.

the finished product ! (well, one of them!) the funnest part was finding the leaves. We took a walk to the farm with Nana and found all sorts of things. We raided the flower garden there and got some pansies that survived the last frost under some leaves, some mum flowers and Sarah even found a guinea hen feather to add. Very pretty Sarah!

My Dad loved our 4-wheeler.... he was watching Eric ride it around and Eric got him on there.. he rode all the way up the hill and back (I was a bit nervous to say the least... what we call "the hill" is actually a mountain.....) then he rode around the yard!! He thoroughly enjoyed himself!!!! (you can't really tell, but his pockets are full of snacks. When he got off the 4 wheeler the first thing he did was take out a snack and eat. You're too funny Dad!!! :)
