pumpkin lighting

After homework, barn chores and dinner the kids carved their pumpkins! I carved a tiny gourd and Daddy helped with Sarah's HUGE pumpkin. Christian chose to carve a smaller one.. he knows all too well all of the "guts" that are involved with the biggies! I will take some pictures of them in their costumes tomorrow by their lighted pumpkins to share.
After the ghastly pumpkin carving was done we went to a small farm in the next town north of ours to visit their annual pumpkin lighting. There were some pretty neat pumpkin carvings there and at the very end we saw:

"happy halloween!"

update on Cecily

I wanted to post an update that I got for Sarah's friend Cecily, things are looking up, but she still needs all of your prayers! Thank you!!

On Friday Ceci sat in a chair for a couple of hours, listened to stories from her Uncle Andy and Aunt Laurie. It was pretty clear that Cecily was very aware of Andy, Laurie and familiar with the relaying of these stories. She also has shown recognition of other familiar voices and faces. She is doing some more moments of focusing and tracking with her eyes. All fabulous news.
Today Ceci will be transfered to Children's Hospital in Boston. There are no complications. Nance & Harry wanted to be close to where she will begin rehabilitation as well as to Harry's family. The best news is that Ceci produced urine last night, about a half a cup. Nancy & Harry had a "pee party"!! This is great news and may indicate the kidneys kicking back into gear.
Ceci seems to be headed most firmly in the right direction in more ways than one. She has the fight to deal with what's ahead. She has great support from family and friends which will help pull her through.

a nice long weekend!

Our family had a nice long weekend. There was no school on Thurday or Friday and we spent the days relaxing with our family (and the pets too!) Here are some pictures from our time at home! What's so funny Sally???
Lacey-cat can be found in Christian's room just about every morning after the bed is made staring at Tommy-bird. Tommy stares right back and will usually sing a song or two.

She looks forward to cold weather every year so she can bask in the warmth of the (HER) stove! We usually take a picture every year of Lacey with her stove.

My parents came to visit this weekend! We went out to eat, walked around Hanover a bit and went for a ride to see the remaining leaves. Christian played mancala with Nana a lot too and beat her every time! (don't feel bad mom, he beats everyone!) He's the master and even beat Daddy this morning too!

Felix loves my Dad... whenever Dad comes to visit Felix has to be right beside him on the chair. They took many naps together! :)

helping out!

This group of ghouls helped at the church "halloween supper" on Saturday night. Mommy washed dishes and Daddy moved tables. It feels good to help out! :)
We stayed on at church this AM after the service with other families to help clean up the church yard. We all enjoyed a yummy lunch of chowder and chili afterwards. Eric with his gang!

prayers..

Prayers headed out tonight for Sarah's friend Cecily. She is very very ill and has been in the hospital for a while with E-Coli poisoning. They have done kidney dialysis and a blood transfusion and many complications have happened... please think of her and keep her in your prayers.
Thank you,
Jen and Eric

Visitors!

We had a nice visit when my brother Randy and his family came over from upstate NY for Columbus day weekend! While they were here we took a drive out in the woods and explored an old, old cemetary, went on a picnic, visited the farm and apple orchard, saw a couple of covered bridges etc. The boys played lots of ping-pong, bball and video games together. It's always a treat when we get visitors and we always have a good time. It was great seeing you guys! We miss you! Sarah and her Aunt Wendy goofing with the camera in the backseat of the truck!
Cousins Zach and Christian sitting on the fence while Sarah was riding.

Zach had a ride on Kit. Thanks for cleaning out that stall for me Zachary! You gave me a break from my chores!

Randy and I posing for a funny shot at our local apple orchard! :o)

The Cornish (NH)/Windsor(VT) bridge which connects these two towns and spans the Conneticut River. The sign on the front of the bridge reads "Walk your horses or pay two dollars fine".

We had a picnic by the river near our house. Eric took this pic and Christian is somewhere in the bushes!!

~October 10th~ Happy Birthday to my brother Randy!!!! Thanks for stacking all of that wood for us big bro. :)

My Dad's birthday was October 14, 2008, Happy Birthday Dad!

Autumn Party!

Some friends of ours from church invited us to a fun outdoor autumn party! Upon arrival we all were put into teams and got colored bandanas to wear for the teams (like surivior! :) ) Here is one game with Eric and christian's team playing pictionary (the "banana bandits was their team name haha!)
pictionary
Sarah and her friend Mikayla practicing another game we all played. We got into circles, holding hands then we all had to pass the hoop around this way. Of course my team ended up with the smallest hoop! After the games the kids watched movies, played basketball etc. We did not see much of them when they started that. When the sun went down the adults all sat around a campfire and chatted. It was a very nice time!

We had lots of yummy food. As you can see Eric and Sarah loved their bandanas and wore them for most of the party.
