South Carolina 2008

We just got back from SC visiting my parents. What fun!! The weather was pretty nice.. we had a few cooler/windy days but the weather soon changed to warm and we got some beach time in!! My brother Randy and his family came down too. It was great to spend some time with them as well! We all went out to eat, took in a show and we took my folks to Charleston, SC to take in some sightseeing!! We visited Boone Hall Plantation where we got to pick cotton, strawberries, see original slave cabins and picnic. We learned a lot about slave life and the lives of the owners who lived there. A trolly took us through fields once filled with cotton and over ditches dug by slaves for the confederate soliders.. very interesting! After that we headed over to Patriot's Point where the USS Yorktown is docked and Daddy and Christian did a quick tour of that WWII ship while we waited for the ferry to take us over to Ft. Sumpter. THAT was cool! To see where the civil war began was pretty amazing.. bullet holes in the sides of the fort, even some torpedos STILL stuck in the walls. Christian is studying the war in school now, so it was neat for him to see the some of the sights they learned about in the classroom. It was a full and very fun day. I will add more pictures next time of our "day of history", I have a ton! For now, here are some from the earliest part of the trip.
Christian and Daddy playing some football with cousin Zach and his friend Aaron.. not sure how he didn't get in the shot!
We had a bite to eat at the NASCAR restaurant

some fun in the sun at the beach!
